Jalan yang Tak Dilalui

Dua jalan bercabang dalam hutan yang menguning,
sayang ku tak dapat menempuh keduanya
sebagai seorang pengembara, lama kuberdiri
dan memandang yang satu sejauh aku bisa
saat kelokannya mengarah ke semak belukar;

memandang yang lain, sama bagusnya
bahkan mungkin lebih baik rasanya
karena masih berumput dan kurang terjamah
walau yang melewati jalan itu
sepertinya sama banyaknya juga

Dan keduanya pagi itu sama membentang
Di bawah hamparan rerontokan daun tanpa jejak
Oh, kusimpan jalan pertama untuk lain waktu!
Meski tahu bagaimana jalan sering saling berkait
ku ragu kan pernah kembali.

Aku akan menuturkannya sambil mendesah
suatu waktu pada masa yang akan datang
Dua jalan bercabang di hutan, dan aku …
Kuambil jalan yang jarang dilalui
Dan itu mengubah segalanya.

And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,

Had worn them really about the same,

Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
